Designed for the player who wants a simple, great sounding guitar with a rootsy, no-frills vibe. ‘The Hog’ may be the entry level JWJ guitar, but there’s no expense spared when it comes to quality tonewoods. Honduras Mahogany makes up the top, back, sides and neck, complemented by Indian Rosewood fretboard, bridge and headstock veneer. As usual, the bracing is torrefied Sitka Spruce which offers reduced weight, added strength and a little more clarity to the tone.

‘The Hog’ was reviewed by David Mead in Guitarist Magazine issue 508 (March 2024) and awarded the Guitarist Gold award.
“Amazing build quality, boasting elite body woods and wonderful tones” 10/10

The Mahogany soundboard (or ‘hog’ tops as they’re often referred to) offers a different flavour to Spruce, with stronger fundamentals and an evenly balanced tone which develops a richness the more you play. Each top and it’s bracing are carved by hand to bring out the best possible tone. The ultra-thin nitro finish shows off the natural grain of the wood, and helps with the vibrant sounds that this guitar delivers.

With a hand carved custom asymmetric neck profile as standard and a fitted Hiscox Pro II hard case, ‘The Hog’ is a fantastic value hand-built acoustic at only £1,295.
